Laikipia, Kenya
Lolldaiga River House is a 400m² home with four en-suite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor fireplaces and wide verandahs, set on twelve private acres that run down to the river. Just 25 minutes from Nanyuki, it is a base for some of Laikipia’s finest wildlife and wilderness.
Lawns and gardens surround the house. Beyond them the land has been left deliberately wild, with paths cut through the bush to the river that marks the boundary with the conservancy.

The House
Designed for relaxed indoor-outdoor living, the house opens from a generous kitchen, dining and sitting room onto an expansive verandah. Bedrooms sit in two separate wings, which suits two families travelling together or a group of friends.
At home
Four en-suite bedrooms in two wings, an open-plan living space warmed by a log burner, and a verandah with sofas, a second fire and a long table set towards the view.
Beyond the gate
The house is exceptionally well placed. Lolldaiga Hills Conservancy is ten minutes away, Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Nanyuki twenty-five, and Ngare Ndare Forest around forty.
“A beautiful stay from start to finish.”
The setting
The Timau River forms the boundary between the property and the Lolldaiga Conservancy. The twelve acres are wonderfully peaceful, with abundant birdlife and occasional elephant and other wildlife sightings.
A staffed home
A housekeeper and groundskeeper look after the house, leaving you free to settle in. Completely off-grid, it runs on solar power, with gas-heated water for plentiful hot showers.
