Living spaces

Sitting room, dining table and kitchen share one bright, beamed space, with a fireplace at one end and doors along its length that open to the verandah.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a gas cooker and oven, fridge and freezer, coffee maker and everything needed to cook for a full house. There are books, board games and a sound system for quiet afternoons.

Verandah & dining

Life at the house gravitates to the verandah: deep sofas around a log burner, a long table for eight, and the hills turning gold in the evening.

There is a fire pit and a barbecue in the garden for nights under the stars. If you would rather arrive to a stocked kitchen, we can put you in touch with trusted local contacts who will shop for groceries and deliver them to the house.

The land & river

Immediately around the house, landscaped gardens and lawns give plenty of space to relax. Beyond them the twelve acres have been left wild.

Walking paths cut through the natural bush lead down to the Timau River, which forms the boundary between the property and the conservancy. Guests swim in the river, watch for birds, and occasionally see elephant and other wildlife on the far bank.

The quiet roads beyond the gate are perfect for morning runs and walks, winding through farmland with views towards Mount Kenya and the Aberdares.
