An ideal base for exploring some of Laikipia’s finest wildlife and wilderness, with two conservancies, a forest and a market town all within forty minutes.

The house sits in Laikipia, on the north-western slopes of Mount Kenya, where farmland gives way to conservancy. The Timau River at the foot of the garden is the border with the Lolldaiga Hills.
From the lawn you look across the river to the conservancy and, on a clear morning, up to the peaks of Mount Kenya. It is a landscape that asks to be explored slowly.

On the doorstep
Wildlife does not keep to the conservancy boundary. Birdlife on the twelve acres is abundant, and elephant and other animals are occasionally seen from the house.
Days here tend to find their own rhythm: an early walk while the air is cool, a late breakfast, a game drive in the afternoon, and the fire lit on the verandah as the light goes.

The conservancy begins on the far bank of the river, and its gate is about ten minutes from the house.

2
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Around twenty-five minutes away, Ol Pejeta is one of Laikipia’s best-known conservancies.
It makes an easy day out from the house, with excellent game viewing, and you can be back on the verandah in time for sundowners.

3
Ngare Ndare Forest
About forty minutes from the house, Ngare Ndare is a change of scene from the open plains.
Allow most of a day for the drive and time among the trees, and take a picnic.

4
Nanyuki

Walks, runs & the river
Some of the best days are spent without getting in the car at all.
Follow the paths through the bush down to the Timau River for a swim, or set out along the quiet local roads through farmland, with Mount Kenya and the Aberdares on the horizon.
